Town Meeting Preview: Handful of Residents Could Get Sewer Fee Break

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in town hall.

The highlight of Tuesday's town meeting may affect only a few people.

Fourteen town residents are eligible for lower sewer flat rates because they are on private wells, as opposed to public water.

The Board of Commissioners will vote on that issue as well as whether to bring the town in compliance with the updated International Building Code, . One of the requirements would be for all new single-family residences to have sprinkler systems installed beginning Jan. 1, 2012, which is a delay of one year. Like the county, the town plans to use the delay to train its emergency services personnel.

There will be a public hearing for both matters.

The commissioners also plan to recognize a Department of Public Works employee and vote on a reappointment to the Economic Development Commission as well as a resolution on public facilities.

The meeting is being held on a Tuesday, instead of Monday, because of Presidents Day.
