Who Is The New Voice Of Harford County Government?

Harford County government's new public information officer may be a familiar face to some early risers.

Sherrie Johnson, most recently an early morning reporter for ABC2 News in Baltimore, will fill the vacant role starting July 22, County Executive David Craig's office announced.

“Sherrie Johnson’s experience in television news and information gathering will be an asset to county government in our ongoing effort to communicate effectively with the public,” Craig said in a release. “She will be a great addition to our team.”

Johnson, a North Carolina native, previously worked in broadcast in that state, and Wilkes Barre, PA before starting at ABC2, according to her biography on the channel's website. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a bachelor of arts with a major in journalism and mass communications and a minor in journalism, according to the release.

"I look forward to working with my colleagues in the media to provide timely and accurate information regarding county government,” Johnson said in the release. “From my past experience on the journalism side, I know that Harford County is an exciting place to work, and that Harford County Government has been a leader in the state when it comes to pioneering innovative new programs and in promoting transparency and efficiency. I can’t wait to get started and to be a part of this team."
