Environmentalists Deliver 'Climate Change Denier Award' To Rep. Harris in Bel Air

UPDATE: (8:23 p.m.)—The Maryland League of Conservation Voters is bestowed a tongue-in-cheek award to Congressman Andy Harris in Bel Air Tuesday in response to his position on global climate change.

A release from the organization characterizes Harris' positions on climate change as "extreme anti-science views" that "put him at odds with 97 percent of scientists and a majority of the American people."

Harris is a Republican representing Maryland's first congressional district—which includes much of Harford County—in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Environmental advocates planned to meet at noon Tuesday outside Rep. Harris' office in Bel Air, located at 15 East Churchville Road Suite 102 B, to encourage action on climate change.

"We want to let our members of Congress know that it is unacceptable for them to deny the science of climate change," the organization's website states.

No one from Harris' office could be reached as of post time.
