Donation Drive at John Carroll Sets Record

The school collected items for an Abingdon food pantry and Bel Air soup kitchen.

Normally during a food drive, it's probably not helpful to break something. However, in this case, it will put more food on the table and is cause for celebration.

The John Carroll School reported that it collected a record-breaking 6,866 cans and nonperishable items during its annual Thanksgiving food drive.

Students and their families amassed the items from Nov. 1 to 25, according to the school.

Abingdon's food pantry at St. Francis de Sales Church and the Manna House Soup Kitchen at Bel Air United Methodist Church will receive the donations.

According to John Carroll, the group that donated the most will take a December field trip to volunteer at the Manna House Soup Kitchen in Bel Air.
