Fallston Student Wins Trip to Germany

The Fallston High School student was selected from a pool of more than 20,000.

For his excellent score on a foreign language test, Brent Strong of Fallston High School will be spending the summer in Germany, Harford County Public Schools reported Monday.

Strong was one of 44 students in the U.S. selected for the all-expenses paid trip, which includes round-trip transportation, a stay with a host family and cultural excursions. The program, which runs from June to July, is funded by a grant from the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Association of Teachers of German selected Strong based on his scores on the 2014 National German Exam for high school students, which nearly 22,000 students took.

After qualifying with a high score on the National German Exam, Strong responded to several short essay questions and was interviewed by a panel of high school German teachers and college German professors, according to Harford County Public Schools.

Strong is a student of German teacher Rick Jones at Fallston High School.
