FOOTBALL: Mustangs Get 6 Spots On UCBAC First Team

The Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference all-conference teams were announced recently, and Bel Air area teams had good representation.

The Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference released all-conference teams, and C. Milton Wright High School made a strong showing.

This year was a breakout season for the Mustangs, who have struggled on the football field for about a decade.

Osiah Walker (wide receiver) and Tyler Hall (tight end) were named first-team on the offensive side. On the defensive side, Bruce West (defensive line), Craig Moretz (linebacker), Caleb Moretz (linebacker) and Tyler Dameron (defensive back) earned first-team spots.

Check out the .pdf attached to this post for a full breakdown of first-team, second-team and honorable mentions from teams throughout Harford County.

Editor's note: The above document supplied by the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference incorrectly spells the name of a Fallston player. The correct spelling is Erik Dettloff.

That's quite a quality statement...I am sure your school is so proud of you representing them! Be proud CMW be proud!

I'm hoping that first comment is a product of autocorrect gone wrong. VERY wrong. If not- then someone clearly needs to have their mouth washed out with soap.
MD Mom November 29, 2012 at 01:14 PM
Someone should probably print these comments and hand-deliver them to the principal!
Terry November 29, 2012 at 01:43 PM
Sounds like Osiah should be going to school in Edgewood or Aberdeen with those comments. Definitely not CMW material. Somebody should check his home address
Harfordlifetimer November 29, 2012 at 01:46 PM
Take states?? Lol you all didn't even make the playoffs
Duck Farmer November 29, 2012 at 01:54 PM
I know some very good students that attend Aberdeen & Edgewood schools and they know better than to use language like that. Especially on a public forum
Randy Gardner November 29, 2012 at 02:23 PM
I'm glad to see the quality of our public school educational system has improved since I graduated from CMW. Osiah incase you don't know, and I doubt you do, my first sentence......... That's called sarcasm....... You're an ignoramus.....i hope you get suspended from further play....
Amy November 29, 2012 at 02:46 PM
I feel that his "spot" on the "first team" should be given to a more respectable deserving athlete. He should be ashamed of himself and so should his parents.
Donkey November 29, 2012 at 03:00 PM
I seriously doubt that was actually him making that post.
OSIAHWALKER November 29, 2012 at 03:11 PM
I want to apologize for my post earlier this morning. Thats not how a all-conference player and potential college recruit speaks. I am ashamed of what I said and am sorry to CMW and the rest of harford county for what i said. I am a sophmore and 15 years old something like this has never happened to me in my life. Your right I dont deserve to be a all conference player and i am willing to give up my spot. I have shamed my parents, teamates, coaches, and myself i stand humiliated and ready to deal with my punishment whatever it may be. That wasn't the real Osiah......
GO COBRAS! November 29, 2012 at 03:56 PM
Nominate Isaiah Gills Harford TECH!! Well deserved upstanding athlete!
TECH DAD November 29, 2012 at 04:17 PM
Who does decided this first team and second team....How did Isaiah not get even an honorable mention! He is a athlete who is going to go far and is a great representation of HARFORD COUNTY...not just TECH!
TECH DAD November 29, 2012 at 04:20 PM
obviously it WAS him...he made the apology
GO COBRAS! November 29, 2012 at 04:32 PM
Obviously the same people who decided the ALL COUNTY FIELD HOCKEY....majority was CMW players....not one from Tech on either 1ST or 2nd team...sad how Tech is overlooked constantly!
Pstroms November 29, 2012 at 04:44 PM
I guess they may have deleted the statement...anyway congrats to all.
Melissa November 29, 2012 at 05:11 PM
Well congratulations to UCBAC champs North Harford for having a total of 11 boys going on 1st and 2nd teams! You guys BRING IT every year!!! SO PROUD TO BE A DUCK FARMER!!!
Terry November 29, 2012 at 05:25 PM
Yes it was a comment not to be missed..... Let's just say if a caucasian used the vulgarity & racial references they'd be called racist real quick......
ooooonikki November 29, 2012 at 05:41 PM
Osiah, everyone makes mistakes. Nobody is perfect. You are right, what you said was offensive and highly inappropriate. As a rising star, take this as a lesson in the responsibility aspect of being an athlete. You are a representation of not only yourself and your parents, but your school and your team. To whom much is given, much is required. Great job this season. GO MUSTANGS!

Just to clarify, the All-UCBAC teams (in any sport) are selected by the conference's coaches upon the completion of the season. -Sean
Amy November 30, 2012 at 03:08 AM
Actually Sean that is true for the all divisions but the All Harford County with the pictures of the players are chosen by the Aegis...I confirmed this with our coaches. So it's not as fair as they would like you to think.
Sean Welsh November 30, 2012 at 03:13 AM
That's correct, Amy—the All-Harford and All-Metro teams printed by the newspapers are chosen by the staff of those newspapers. The All-UCBAC teams—like the one included with this article—are selected by the coaches. I just wanted to clarify to some readers who were curious about the process that went into picking these teams. Patch does not select an all-county team. We opt to publish, when provided, the all-conference teams chosen by the coaches who see all of the players in action.
Duck Farmer November 30, 2012 at 05:20 PM
Why does the staff of a newspaper select an "All-Harford" or "All-Metro" team? Shouldn't it be called an "All-Aegis" team then? Seems more appropriate? Wow... I had no idea...
Sean Welsh November 30, 2012 at 08:12 PM
I would normally refrain from commenting on another publication, but I spent two high school sports seasons at The Aegis, and I spent two baseball seasons coaching in Harford County, where I interacted with reporters. The newspaper uses input from coaches to help select the team.
Jen December 01, 2012 at 12:45 PM
Well the input this year for All Aegis I mean All County was clearly chosen by the CMW & Patterson Mill H20 coaches. 7 of the girls chosen all play H20. The 3 sophomores two of which ARE the CMW coaches daughters all play club for her also. I think it would be only fair to let all the county coaches have input. I know you want to see YOUR kid in the paper but so give everyone an opportunity.
Collin December 06, 2012 at 11:04 PM
Jen, have you ever seen them play field hockey? Because if you have then you would know why they were chosen. Those girls are amazing players and give it their all every day at practice and every game. As a field hockey manager I went to all the games and saw a majority of the county girls play. Without a doubt there are some amazing players out there and yes maybe some of them are good enough to make All County, but there are so many of them out there. Sydney, Sabrina and Linnea are outstanding players and without a doubt deserve to be on that list. Don't be surprised when one day you see one or more of them playing for the USA National team, they are that good. And once again, those 7 girls from H2O.... did you ever think maybe that the program trains them to be that kind of player? Every single one of those girls that made that list deserve it.
