Harford County Schedules 2012 Graduations

The Harford County introduced a projected schedule of high school graduation dates and locations during its Monday night meeting. 

David Volrath, executive director for high school performance, presented the measure, which the board is expected to vote on in August. It is designed to create a more stable graduation itinerary for the coming school years. 

Volrath said the schedule was driven by two points—the desire to keep high school graduations within the county rather than moving to outside venues, and the addition of new locations. He said the plan is cost effective because it allows the high schools to keep their graduation ceremonies within the county. 

Volrath also noted that the board could consider changing the schedule based on annual feedback from high school principals. 

If the plan is approved, "host schools" like Aberdeen High School, and Edgewood High School would schedule their commencement ceremonies during "Day 1" of graduation week. North Harford and C. Milton Wright high schools would plan their ceremonies at a designated host school on "Day 2, and Fallston and Patterson Mill high schools would graduate on "Day 3."
