Although school was canceled in Harford County Monday, the Board of Education meeting will go on as planned.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., according to Teri Kranefeld, spokeswoman for the school system.
Until noon, Harford County was under a winter weather advisory due to freezing rain, meaning travel conditions could be dangerous.
As a result of the wintry mix, Kranefeld announced Monday morning that Harford County schools would be closed for the day.
The school board meeting will proceed as scheduled, but Kranefeld said recognitions would be postponed. The honorees were removed from the agenda Monday morning. Among them was an emergency response team at C. Milton Wright High School. Kranefeld said information would be forthcoming about when the recognitions would take place.
The Board of Education is scheduled to make a decision on the 2014 operating budget for the school system at its Jan. 28 meeting. It will also hear a presentation about student achievement from the assistant superintendent.
The Harford County Board of Education meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at 102 S. Hickory Avenue in Bel Air.
