What did you do for Pi Day?

March 14 is a wacky day in the math world, known as National Pi Day in recognition of the irrational number pi.

Harford County Public Schools were among those who celebrated Thursday.

March 14, or 3/14, is known as National Pi Day in recognition of the number pi, which refers to the the ratio of circumference to diameter of a circle.

In it's shortest form, it is known 3.14, but has an infinite number of decimals, according to an article about the day on CNN.com.

In Harford County, at least two local schools recognized the number and the day with memorization and a little dessert.

For the eighth year in a row, C. Milton High School held its annual Pi Day Contest with the winning student reciting 501 digits, according to Lindsay Bilodeau, member of the school system's communication team.

At Aberdeen High, Principal Mike O’Brien and team members from the school’s business partner, Raytheon, delivered apple pies to all of the math classrooms.
