Patterson Mill Students Get Sweet Ending to Fundraising Campaign

Leaders at the Bel Air school topped off the fundraiser with a reward.

Students at Patterson Mill Middle School reportedly poured dessert toppings on school officials recently to celebrate raising more than $20,000 in the Hoops for Heart campaign.

Assistant Principal Lisa Landish and teachers Brian Lehman and Ryan Artist took sundae toppings and pies to the face to congratulate students for raising $21,873, The Aegis reported.

Hoops for Heart is an initiative that raises money for the American Heart Association through a program in schools that aims to make fundraising fun through physical activity and community service. Money goes toward research to find new cures and treatments for people suffering from heart disease.

Patterson Mill isn't the only Bel Air school whose staff rewarded students with a fun surprise at the end of a fundraising campaign.

A few months ago, the principal at Prospect Mill Elementary School dressed like a woman and threw a dance party for students after they raised more than $13,500 during a fundraiser for the PTA.
