Harford County Schools, Government Make Snow Plans

The school system, county government and APG changed schedules due to snow.

Classes were canceled at Harford County Public Schools, the school system announced Friday morning.

Weekend activities scheduled for Saturday and Sunday were to go on, the school system reported Friday afternoon. Friday evening activities were still canceled.

The school system was on Code Green Friday, meaning essential employees were required to report for work; second-shift custodian duty was canceled; and there would be neither evening activities nor day care.

Harford County government offices were closed.

Aberdeen Proving Ground was closed  on Friday.

Federal government workers were granted unscheduled leave or telework, according to the Office of Personnel Management website.

Previous report at 8:59 p.m. on Jan. 2.

As Harford County declared a snow emergency and flakes continued to fall Thursday night, the school system made tentative plans for Friday.

Harford County Public Schools will open two hours later than usual on Friday, Jan. 3, according to a statement the school system issued Thursday night.

Friday's prekindergarten and preschool activities were canceled.

"We will continue to monitor the storm and re-evaluate in the early morning," according to the statement. "Should the schedule change, you will be notified immediately."

Thursday's after-school activities were canceled due to the weather.
