John Carroll Team Wins 'IT'S ACADEMIC' Playoff

The playoff match will air on WJZ in April.

A team of displayed its mental prowess this week, winning a playoff match on the local quiz show "IT'S ACADEMIC."

The Patriots' win against two fellow first-round winners—Gilman School of Baltimore and Huntingtown High School of Huntingtown, MD—means the team will play in the semi-finals later this season, according to a release from the show.

John Carroll's Nick Henninger, Adam Kuester and Ana Beain, led by faculty coach Robert Schick, comprise the winning quiz team.

The match will air at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14 on WJZ Channel 13.

"IT'S ACADEMIC" has been on the air for more than half a century and was named by the Guinness Book of Records as, “the world’s longest-running television quiz program,” according to the show's website.
