Seven Local Educators Among County Teacher of the Year Finalists
Harford County Public Schools has announced contenders for the 2011 Harford County Teacher of the Year.
Ten teachers have been announced as finalists for the 2011 Harford County Teacher of the Year award.
Seven of the 10 are from Bel Air area schools including Kristien Foss, of Bel Air Middle School; Glen Hedelson, of Bel Air High School; Alyssa King, of C. Milton Wright High School; Karen McNeely, of Ring Factory Elementary School; Tracie Moots, of Patterson Mill Middle School; Susan Petty of Forest Hill Elementary School; Mary Ward of Fountain Green Elementary School.
Other nominees are Christian Slattery of Hall's Cross Roads Elementary School; Colleen Burghardt of Edgewood High School; Jennifer Chandler of North Harford High School.

Interviews of the finalists will take place March 31 and April 1 to help the Teacher of the Year Judging Committee make a decision. The winner will be announced at the annual Harford County Teacher of the Year Banquet on April 28 at the Bayou Restaurant in Havre de Grace.
Last year's Harford County Teacher of the Year was Lisa Mullen, a teacher at North Harford Middle School.
