Three C. Milton Wright Students Cited for Alcohol at Spring Formal

Two girls and one boy were cited by Harford County sheriff's deputies.

Three students were issued juvenile citations at about 9 p.m., April 16 for bringing alcohol to the “Spring Formal” dance, which took place at the high school.

Two girls and one boy—all 17—were cited for “unlawfully possessing and having in charge an alcoholic beverage.”

A spokeswoman for the said the students’ respective parents were notified and picked up the teenagers from the dance.

“The behavior of these students is disappointing and not tolerated,” Harford County Public Schools Manager of Communications Teri Kranefeld said in an email. “Appropriate disciplinary action has been taken against all involved.”

She added that the dance was open to all grades.

of Drug Control Policy Joe Ryan said underage drinking often leads to bigger problems.

“Alcohol is truly a gateway to the harder drugs,” Ryan said. “It’s becoming a public safety issue. Our deputies, local law enforcement and state police are making that a priority to try and curb underage drinking because we know that’s helping to fuel the juvenile crime rate.”
