FOOTBALL: Delmar (DE) Drives Past Mustangs

The C. Milton Wright football team dropped its second consecutive game to begin this season. After losing to Archbishop Curley at home in week one, the Mustangs struggled in their Delaware road trip.

If Mustangs head coach David Yohn can find a silver lining in Friday's 55-14 loss at Delmar (DE), it is his quarterback.

Senior Bryce Monroe rushed for one of C. Milton's two touchdowns, and stood out to Yohn for his effort.

"He plays hard no matter what. [And] I don't think there's a kid who didn't try," Yohn said.

Down four touchdowns before halftime, Yohn had trouble pinpointing the Mustangs (0-2) problem, though the five-hour ride to face the Wildcats probably did not help.

"It was bad the whole way around," he added. "It's going to take a lot of work [to figure it out]."

Senior Wes Laguerre ran for the Mustangs' other touchdown.

C. Milton has another long trip Sept. 17 to face the Kent Island Buccaneers.

The slate will essentially be wiped clean in week four, though, when the Mustangs begin Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference play by hosting Havre de Grace.

Although the Warriors will be no bargain, Yohn hopes that the first three opponents will serve as ample preparation for the local schedule.

Kickoff for Friday's road game is at 7 p.m.
