Bel Air Fourth of July Celebration Schedule

Patch offers a roundup of local Independence Day events.

With the Fourth of July just one week away, Bel Air is gearing up for a day of celebration.

In addition to the typical highlights of Independence Day—the fireworks and parade—Bel Air has a jam-packed day of fun prepared for the whole family.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on July 4, according the Bel Air Independence Day committee's website.

This year, the Bel Air Independence Day parade will take a . The parade is expected to start at the intersection of E. Gordon Street and North Main Street in downtown Bel Air, and continue straight down Main Street to Idlewild Street.

Then around 9:30 p.m., the sky will light with "bombs bursting in air."

Fireworks are planned to be set off at Rockfield Park in Bel Air.

In the case of inclement weather, the fireworks will be set off at the same time on Thursday, July 5.

Limit 1 member of each turtle species per adult and a total 3 turtle limit per entrant. 10:30 a.m. Frog Jumping Contest Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Limit 2 frogs per entrant. 11 a.m. Bicycle Registration and Rodeo Pennsylvania Avenue Parking Lot Those with the best decorated bikes will receive a trophy or award. 11 a.m.
Uncle Sam Says Kids of all ages are welcome to play a patriotic version of "Simon Says." 11:30 a.m. Watermelon Eating Contest The children in their age group to eat the most watermelon will receive trophies. 4:30-6:30 p.m. Parade Staging Parade staging takes place in the streets stemming from parade starting point at the intersection of Gordon and Bond Streets. Specific instructions will be sent to parade participants. 6 p.m. Bel Air July 4th Parade The parade will run from the intersection of E. Gordon Street and North Main Street to Idlewild Street.
9:30 p.m. Bel Air Fireworks Display The fireworks will be launched from . The fireworks will be launched from Rockfield Park. If cancelled due to weather, they will be launched July 5, 2012 around 9:30 p.m.
