Turtle races and frog jump competitions were features of Bel Air's Fourth of July events.

The frog jump and turtle races are tradition for many Bel Air families and part of the July Fourth celebration this year.

For Bob Lynch, the frog jumping contest in Bel Air has been part of his plan every Independence Day since 1974.

"I've taken the kids here for years," Bob Lynch said.

Lynch said his daughter, Jenny Lynch, currently holds the county record with a 171-inch jump.

"It's just good clean fun, we really appreciate all the work that goes into it," Bob Lynch said.

Jenny Lynch, age 15, estimates the family has taken home at least 12 trophies over the years.

"I look forward to going out at night and catching them all," Jenny Lynch said.
