I typically blog about real estate or business topics, but being that this was unofficially a holiday weekend, I wanted to stir up some nostalgia and pleasant memories. Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays for a few reasons. 1. There isn't the pressure to give gifts. 2. The activities normally participated on the 4th are some of my most favorite; grilling, swimming, music and fireworks. 3. The 4th is a holiday for everyone, not just immediate family. Usually the parties or gatherings are open to friends, co-workers and family.
With that said, what is one of your favorite 4th of July memories? Was it a place you spent the 4th? Was it a certain person or people you spent the 4th with? Give us all a glimpse into a good memory you have celebrating our country's freedom and share one of your favorite 4th of July stories/memories.
One of the most memorable memories was back in my younger days, maybe around 19 years old, and a bunch of my friends and I went to the home that one of their parents owned. We climbed the back stairs and got on top of the roof. This property was directly across the street from Fullerton Elementary School. We laid down on the sloped roof and watched as the fireworks seemed to explode directly in front of us. We were so close that the percussion from the explosions would rattle our chests. It was one of the best fireworks displays I had ever seen. The group of close friends and the "coolness" factor of being 40 feet off of the ground and on a roof made the memory stick and stand out to me.

That memory has since been trumped by the times I have been able to spend with my three sons on the 4th and their excitement at the different colors and sounds of the firework displays we have seen.
