Walk Honoring Fallen Harford Student Benefits College, Hospital

Proceeds from the April 5K were presented to two foundations at the end of June.

After a car crash claimed the life of their son, the parents of student Adam Thompson decided to honor his memory by raising money for two scholarship funds.

Pat Thompson, a nurse at Upper Chesapeake and a nursing instructor at HCC, along with her husband Roy Thompson presented a check for event proceeds to representatives of both the college and the health system in late June.

In April of this year a 5K walk/run was held on the college campus.

The 5K took place a little over a year after the single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of the 19-year-old HCC student and North Harford High School graduate.

While their son was not able to complete his educational journey, Adam Thompson's his parents hope the money they raise will help other students achieve their goals.

The second Adam Thompson Memorial 5K walk/run is scheduled to take place Sunday, April 28, 2013. Those interested in learning about the event event or making a donation to these two memorial scholarships can visit the dedicated page on the college's web site.
