Recycling Your Christmas Tree in Harford County

Where should you take your Christmas tree?

After the holidays, Harford County can put your Christmas tree to use.

At Harford County's composting facility in Street, trees are ground up into mulch, which is available to residents year-round.

To recycle your Christmas tree, drop it off at the Harford Waste Disposal Center or the Tollgate Road drop-off site.

  • Harford Waste Disposal Center, 3135 Scarboro Rd., Street. Open 7 a.m.–3 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
  • Tollgate Road facility, 703 N. Tollgate Rd., Bel Air. Open 7 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday.
Trees are mixed with yard waste and ground into mulch at the Street location.

For free, residents may take up to 90 gallons of mulch each year by bringing 30-gallon bags or trash cans to the center. Additional mulch is available at cost.
