Winter Storm Watch Issued for Harford County

The National Weather Service reports snow is moving up from the south.

Keep the ice scraper handy and the snow shovel too; Harford County is under a winter storm watch starting on Wednesday.

Up to five inches of snow may fall between Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service, which issued the alert.

The weather service said that the snow is moving in from the south.

Snow will begin Wednesday evening, mixing with sleet and rain overnight into Thursday, according to the weather service.

A winter storm watch means there is potential for significant accumulations of snow and sleet that may impact travel.

"Travel may be dangerous Wednesday night and Thursday," according to the weather service, which reported that the "heavy wet snow" may cause power outages.

Temperatures will stay below freezing until Thursday.

The winter storm watch is in effect for Harford, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Charles, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's and St. Mary's counties.
