Harford County To Recognize Top Officers In DUI Arrests

The Harford County State's Attorney's Office has recognized drunk and drugged driving enforcement for the past 22 years.

Harford County law enforcement officers strive to keep impaired drivers off the road, and this month the Harford County State's Attorney's Office will recognize the 28 troopers, deputies and officers who officials there say have done it best. State's Attorney Joseph Cassilly will present the awards at 7 p.m. May 15 in the ceremonial courtroom in the Harford County Circuit Court building, according to a release from the state's attorney's office. "Our law enforcement officers are the best in their efforts to maintain safety on the county's roads," Cassilly said in the release. "They are responsible for saving many lives and sparing families the devastation caused by impaired drivers. Harford County is proud to acknowledge their service." …

Police Release Video In Vi Ripken Abduction Case

The matriarch of the Ripken family was abducted last week and the investigation is ongoing.

Police have today released video and plan to release a composite sketch of the man suspected of abducting Vi Ripken last week. The video, released by investigators, shows the suspect at a retail establishment in Anne Arundel County. Later in the day police are expected to release a composite sketch of the suspected abductor based on eyewitness accounts. Lt. Fred Budnick with the Aberdeen Police Department wrote in an email Tuesday that no specific motive has been indentified in the alleged abduction. "This is still considered to be a forced abduction not related to any medical or health conditions," Budnick wrote. Aberdeen police said a man armed with a handgun—described as in his late 30s or early 40s wearing a light colored shirt, …

Sounds like a plan to me. Haven't heard from Courtney in a while. I hope these people haven't run her out of here. After all, we are all entitled to say what's on our minds. Harford County Law Enforcement Team Up On Traffic

The year-old Harford County Traffic Task Force has lead to more than more than 6,800 traffic citations.

Harford County has a traffic problem—and local law enforcement want the public to know they're taking it seriously. A main part of their efforts include the Harford County Traffic Task Force—involving the sheriff's office, Aberdeen Police Department, Bel Air Police Department, Havre de Grace Police Department and the Maryland State Police (Bel Air and JFK Barracks). While it has been in place on a trial basis for about a year, a memorandum of understanding made it official on Tuesday. In an effort to combat the high rate of traffic fatalities and accidents in Harford County, local law enforcement formed the unofficial traffic task force in 2011 to target certain areas for enforcement and raise driver awareness. This past spring, Harford …

I agree with Mark. I see this almost daily, and it's usually the State Police who are exercising their "do as I say, not as I do" powers.   more ›

Starting in Aberdeen, the Bel Air Barrack made seven arrests in four burglary cases.

Maryland State Police troopers from the Bel Air Barrack "D" uncovered a series of Harford County burglaries and made seven arrests in less than one week, according to a press release.  Beginning near Aberdeen on July 18, troopers responded to complaints of a stolen PlayStation on the residential 1500 block of Old Philadelphia Road, the release said.  Police traced the gaming system to 30-year-old Laura Elizabeth Blodgett of Aberdeen. After further investigation, troopers linked Brian Ronald Davis, 30, and Christopher Michael McFarlin, 27, both of Aberdeen, to the alleged burglary.  All three were charged with first-degree burglary and theft, according to the release.  Troopers responded to a commercial burglary three days later, where the …
