Police Investigating Bel Air Abduction, Attempted Sexual Assault

Middle School Girls Report Lewd Act at Churchville Bus Stop

Three Southampton Middle School students, ages 12-14, reported seeing a suspicious man driving around and pleasuring himself near their Churchville bus stop.

Local law enforcement are on alert after three Southampton Middle School students reported seeing a suspicious man apparently masturbating in his car near their bus stop Tuesday morning. Around 7 a.m. Tuesday, three girls from the Rolling Green Community in Churchville were near the bus stop when they saw a man in a green car or SUV who was believed to be masturbating, according to Edward Hopkins, spokesman with the Harford County Sheriff's Office. The man did not approach the girls, who are between the ages of 12 and 14, but was seen driving through the neighborhood with a window down and appeared lost, Hopkins wrote in an email. Police: Impaired Man Drives Into 2 Bel Air Homes, Causes Fire

A truck crashed into two Bel Air homes Wednesday night, setting one on fire in the process.

A Bel Air man was charged Wednesday after allegedly crashing his truck into two homes on East MacPhail Road while under the influence, police say. Michael Lee Smith, 54, of the 1000 block of Cedar Lane, is charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while under the influence, possession of a dangerous substance and leaving the scene of an accident, according to a Harford County Sheriff's Office news release. The charges stem from the Wednesday night incident in Bel Air. Around 9:15 p.m. sheriff's deputies and firefighters from the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company were called to the 1000 block of MacPhail Road after a truck allegedly drove into two homes, setting one of them on fire, according to the release. Bel Air Man Charged In Rock Spring Gas Station Robbery

The Sunoco in the 1400 block of Rock Spring Road was robbed on the afternoon of April 20.

A Bel Air man has been charged with assault and theft in the weekend armed robbery of a gas station in the Rock Spring area. Luke Raymond Johnson, 30, of the 800 block of Chesney Lane, was charged with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, theft less than $1,000, possession of a drug other than marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug equipment. Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, a man wearing a white cloth over his face walked into the Sunoco located at 1451 Rock Spring Road, and demanded cash, according to a release from Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack. Alleged Robber at Shock Trauma Following Chase, Crash

A 26-year-old Bel Air man allegedly dressed in a burqa to disguise himself as a woman and robbed a liquor store on Friday.

Charges are pending against a Bel Air man who police say disguised himself as a woman, allegedly robbed a liquor store on South Fountain Green Road at gunpoint, and crashed his car as he tried to elude officers on Friday. The man, who is being identified only as a 26-year-old from Bel Air, was in stable condition Monday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. A warrant charging the man with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault and theft less than $1,000 has been issued in connection with the liquor store robbery. 3 Boys Charged With Detonating 'Soda Bottle Bombs' in Bel Air

The boys were charged with six counts each of manufacture, possession and use of a destructive device.

Three boys have been charged with detonating six so-called "soda bottle bombs" outside a Bel Air school. The chemical reaction devices were detonated at around 5 p.m. Saturday at the Harford Day School in the 700 block of Moores Mill Road, according to a press release from the state fire marshal's office. The fire marshal's office and Bel Air Police investigated and determined that two 13-year-olds and one 12-year-old made and detonated the bombs, according to the release. The trio confessed and told police they learned how to make the devices online. Bel Air Accupay Facing Fraud Allegations

Accupay Payroll Services in Bel Air is suspected of collecting and withholding payroll taxes without forwarding them to the state and federal government.

The Bel Air payroll processing company Accupay, accused of defrauding clients of thousands of dollars, remains under investigation and the company's owner appeared in federal bankruptcy court this week. Bel Air Police launched an investigation into the business, located at 206 East Churchville Road, early last month after receiving numerous complaints from clients across the state about unpaid federal income tax withholdings. Investigators received at least 10 complaints of fraud and the company is being sued by five additional clients alleging similar losses of $465,000, according to a release from Del. Mary-Dulaney James, who has been working with other state officials to ensure alleged victims are not further financially burdened. The …

Man, Woman Run From Police After Allegedly Attempting To Cash Fraudulent Check

Two people recklessly led police on a pursuit from Edgewood to Perry Hall, police said.

A man and a woman dangerously evaded police Monday afternoon after a bank cashier suspected them of trying to cash a fraudulent check, according to a Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman.  The pair tried to cash the check at the Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union on the 1300 block of East Pulaski Highway in Edgewood Monday afternoon, which set in motion a search for the couple spanning Harford and Baltimore counties.  A teller at the bank contacted authorities after becoming suspicious about the check.  The couple fled the bank after seeing police cars pull into the parking lot, Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff's Office, said.  Hopkins said the pair drove recklessly, speeding through multiple red …
