The Baltimore City police officer's identity has not been released by the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
The identity of a Baltimore City police officer who pulled his gun on a dog at Annie’s Playground in March is being withheld by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. Patch filed a Public Information Act request for the officer’s identity, but was denied on grounds that the request was “an unwarranted invasion of privacy” and revealing the information could “endanger the life or physical safety of an individual.” The officer, whose name is blacked out in the sheriff's incident report, is listed as the victim on the police report. But no charges were filed against the woman whose dog approached the officer’s family. A Baltimore City Police Department spokesman said the officer was not disciplined internally. Police initially said the officer …

Intuitive Counseling's owner said she did not like being classified as a "witchcraft" business.
Intuitive Counseling owner Alice Barrington said this week's ruling by the Town of Bel Air Board of Commissioners to allow fortune-telling is a weight lifted off her shoulders. Questioned at previous public meetings about her business practices in a town that had prohibited predicting the future, the Baltimore County resident can breathe easy. "[I'm] relieved. This has been an ongoing event since October," Barrington (an alias she uses for business) said. "[The ruling] was supposed to be cut-and-dry but it got delayed." The commissioners voted 4–1 in favor of two ordinances that loosened restrictions on fortune-telling. The first repealed Chapter 23 of the Code of the Town of Bel Air that banned soothsaying and the second designated zoning…

County Council President Billy Boniface said we are all "one county."
UPDATE (8:04 p.m.)—Wednesday's Harford County Council budget public hearing at North Harford High School yielded few speakers, though most of them were in agreement. Calls for tax cuts, library funding and support of a parks and recreation and library project in Churchville were residents' top priorities. Council President Billy Boniface said people are realizing how scarce funding is for fiscal year 2012. "I haven't gotten a lot of feedback," he said after the hearing, noting that threats of teacher protests did not come to fruition. "They recognized that this budget's pretty tight." Harford County Education Association President Randy Cerveny suggested several changes to the budget that would return millions to the Board of Education and…
The store is scheduled to open Sept. 18.
Getting hired by Harford County's soon-to-open gourmet grocery store may be more like a lottery than an application process. In an interview with Patch, Wegmans store manager Al Jackson said more than 4,000 people applied for the 150 full-time positions available in the store, scheduled to open Sept. 18. In July, the store will begin taking applications for 450 part-time positions. "I’m very encouraged with the caliber and the quality of the candidates," Jackson said. "We’ve been consistently one of the top companies to work for and we’re really proud of that and that’s a testament to our people." Fortune magazine ranks Wegmans as the No. 3 employer in the country. The store manager said he is in the second round of interviews and expects …
