The Fallston senior won the 132-pound weight class Saturday.
Last March, a Patterson Mill Husky won a state wrestling title. Saturday, a Fallston Cougar won a state title. It doesn't seem to matter where Zach Cullison wrestles. He just wins. The Fallston senior—who transferred from Patterson Mill—won a decision in Saturday's Class 1A-2A state title meet in College Park, winning the 132-pound weight class. With a 6-5 decision against Middletown's Matt Capobianco, Cullison finished 36-1, according to MPSSAA.org. Cullison told Explore Harford, "I'm happy to bring home the gold two times in a row." Other results, according to MPSSAA.org: Did you attend the state wrestling meet at Cole Field House? Tell us about it with a comment. Have photos or video? The coach and team captains were still reeling from their victory Thursday afternoon.
Wednesday night was history in the making for the Harford Technical High School varsity cheerleaders when they became the school's first girls team to ever win a state championship title. “We won the north region competition on Saturday which enabled us to go to the state championship last night,” Harford Tech Principal Charles Hagan said Thursday. “We won last night.” Hagan said cheerleading is different from other sports where you may have certain divisions, and then wind up with four different champions. Rather, in cheerleading, everyone—all 13 teams—compete against everyone. “It’s the first girls team state championship in the history of Harford Tech,” Hagan said.
