Whiteford Man Killed In Street Crash

The accident happened after midnight Friday.

A Whiteford man driving a truck crashed into a tree and was killed early Friday, according to Maryland State Police. Investigators believe excessive speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the single vehicle crash, according to a release from Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack. Around 12:03 a.m. Friday, Charles Garland Jr., of Whiteford, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck on Maryland Route 440, or Dublin Road, in Street, according to the release. Investigating troopers determined Garland entered a curve east of Wilson Road at high rate of speed, lost control and veered off the road into a tree, the release states. Garland was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air where he was pronounced dead, …

Manslaughter Trial Of Churchville Man Postponed

The charges stem from a 2011 crash that claimed the life of Joshua John Hanna of Street.

The trial of a Churchville man charged with crashing his car while under the influence, killing another man, was postponed Tuesday. Jordan Craig Stewart, 27, of the 500 block of Bryarly Court in Churchville, was indicted in October 2012 on charges of negligent manslaughter by vehicle, negligent homicide by auto while using drugs and six related charges. His trial was set to begin Tuesday, but instead was pushed back to June 10. The charges stem from a crash that killed a 21-year-old man from Street. On Nov. 5, 2011, Joshua John Hanna, 21, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Maryland Route 22. Churchville Man Gets 14 Months In DUI, Fatal Crash

Charles Robert Creaney pleaded guilty to negligent homicide by vehicle in connection with a December 2011 fatal accident.

A 23-year-old Churchville man will spend his next birthday behind bars after admitting to drinking and driving before a December 2011 crash in White Hall that claimed another man's life. Charles Robert Creaney pleaded guilty Monday to a single count each of negligent homicide by motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana, according to a release from the Harford County State's Attorney's Office. Judge Maurice W. Baldwin sentenced Creaney to the maximum five years in jail before suspending all but one year and two months of that time. Once released, Creaney is ordered to serve five years supervised probation and make $13,787 restitution, the release states. The accident occurred around 5 a.m., on Dec. 4 …

Nearly a year after a Street man was killed in a head-on collision, police are holding the driver responsible on several charges. Jordan Craig Stewart, now 27, of the 500 block of Bryarly Court in Churchville, was indicted Oct. 16 on charges of negligent manslaughter by vehicle, negligent homicide by auto while using drugs, and six related charges. The charges stem from a crash that killed a 21-year-old man. Police Identify Officer Killed in Morning Crash

The Harford County Sheriff's Office deputy was involved in the crash at the end of a shift.

UPDATE (10:35 a.m.)—A Thursday morning car crash claimed the life of an on-duty Harford County Sheriff's Office deputy. Police have identified the deputy as a 14-year veteran of the sheriff's office. Corporal Charles B. Licato, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single vehicle crash in Darlington, police said in a statement. Licato, a Cecil County resident, had been with the sheriff's office for 14 years and was most recently assigned to the Apprehension Unit of the Services and Support Bureau, police said. Woman Pleads Guilty In Fatal Bel Air Crash

Ashley Nicole Albers was driving while under the influence of drugs at the time of the fatal July 2011 crash outside the Fountain Green Swim Club.

A Bel Air woman was sentenced to the maximum jail time of 10 years after pleading guilty Monday to one count of vehicular manslaughter. Based on the plea agreement, Ashley Nicole Albers will only serve five of those years in jail, with the remaining five suspended. Albers, 28, with addresses in the 700 block of Farnham Place in Bel Air and the 1700 block of Fountain Rock Way in Edgewood, was indicted in May on charges of vehicular manslaughter and eight related counts. Community Remembers Fallen Teen Through Social Media

Hannah Kriss died Tuesday in a car crash at Old Joppa and Mountain Roads.

An 18-year-old John Carroll School graduate lost her life in a car accident Tuesday, and the outpouring of support and grief is evident through social media. Hannah Kriss, of the 100 block of Theodora Court in Forest Hill, died at the scene of the crash after her car crossed the center line at Old Joppa and Mountain Roads and brushed one car then hit a second head-on, according to Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack. The accident took place between Joppa and Fallston Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE (7:25 p.m.)—A head-on collision claimed the life of an 18-year-old Forest Hill woman Tuesday afternoon. Around 2:14 p.m. a head-on collision took place in the area of Old Joppa Road and Mountain Road in Fallston, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Kloiber with the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack. Hanna Mackensie Kriss, 18, of the 100 block of Theodora Court in Forest Hill, was driving north on Mountain Road when her 1999 Saturn crossed the double-yellow line in the area of Old Joppa Road, according to a release from state police.
