Anthony Leon Farris Jr., 24, of the 1000 block of Pirates Court in Edgewood, was charged Friday with sex abuse of a minor, fourth-degree sex offense and perverted practice, according to online court records. Harford County Public Schools revised the 2012–2013 academic calendar.
The final day of school in Harford County will be later than originally planned, Harford County Public Schools (HCPS) announced. Each year, the Maryland Department of Education requires students to be in school for 180 days. Since HCPS missed four days so far in the 2012–2013 school year due to weather, students will have more school days in June than originally anticipated. Without any inclement weather days, the 2012–2013 school year was slated to end June 11 for most students and June 6 for prekindergarten. However, HCPS canceled school on January 28 due to a wintry mix and on Oct. 29, 30 and 31 due to Hurricane Sandy. As a result, HCPS canceled staff development day on Tuesday, April 30. The C. Milton Wright girls set three county records and paddled to a second-place finish in the state swim meet Saturday in College Park. C. Milton Wright took second in the MPSSAA girls meet, and fourth in the boys meet, as the top representatives from Harford County. The Mustangs girls topped last year's record in the 200 medley relay, swimming a 1:53.24, besting the 1:54.82 set last year. They won the state title by three seconds. Part of both of those relay teams was Lauren O'Mara, who also broke her own county reacord in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:06.70. UPDATE (10:17 a.m.)—One woman is dead and three were injured in a Thursday afternoon accident in Forest Hill that involved a trailer carrying two horses. Bradley Garrett Baker, of Fallston, was stopped on Grafton Shop Road preparing to cross MD Route 23, or East-West Highway, in a 1998 Chevy S-10 at around 3:30 p.m., according to Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack. At the same time, a 2000 Peterbuilt oil tanker was heading west on Route 23 while a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban towing a horse trailer was eastbound on the highway, state police said. Medical units were called to the scene of the car accident Wednesday.
A late morning car accident in Forest Hill injured multiple people Wednesday, fire officials say. Around 10 a.m. an accident took place on MD Route 24, or Rocks Road, in the area of Newport Drive in Forest Hill, according to a post from Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS spokesman Rich Gardiner to the association's official Facebook page. Multiple medical units from Bel Air, Fallston and Jarrettsville volunteer fire companies were called to the scene to treat injuries, the post states. Stick with Patch for updates.
