The Sunoco in the 1400 block of Rock Spring Road was robbed on the afternoon of April 20.
A Bel Air man has been charged with assault and theft in the weekend armed robbery of a gas station in the Rock Spring area. Luke Raymond Johnson, 30, of the 800 block of Chesney Lane, was charged with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, theft less than $1,000, possession of a drug other than marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug equipment. Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, a man wearing a white cloth over his face walked into the Sunoco located at 1451 Rock Spring Road, and demanded cash, according to a release from Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack. The fire broke out Monday night north of Bel Air.
A small fire in an attached garage in Forest Hill caused $75,000 in damage Monday night, according officials. The blaze on the 100 block of Bower Lane was reported at approximately 11:30 p.m., and the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company said the fire was out within minutes. There were no injuries. Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association, said that fireplace ashes which had not been properly disposed of caused the fire. The U.S. Fire Administration recommends allowing ashes to cool before disposal, then putting them in a tightly covered metal container at least 10 feet from the home and nearby buildings. The crash occurred Sunday afternoon on Maryland Route 24, according to officials.
A man was taken by helicopter for medical treatment after a deer struck his moped on Route 24 at Grier Nursery Road on Sunday afternoon, officials said. The victim, who was described as in his fifties, was taken to a regional trauma center, according to Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association spokesman Rich Gardiner said. The business is moving to 1501 Rock Spring Road.
The building that most recently housed Taurus Auto Repair in Forest Hill has been leveled to make way for a new 7-Eleven. Employees of the 7-Eleven, located at 5 Bynum Road, confirmed in October the business is moving just down the road to 1501 Rock Spring Road. The fire caused about $50,000 damage to a portable classroom.
Fire spread through a Forest Lakes Elementary School classroom in the early hours of Thursday morning and officials believe a malfunctioning heating unit is to blame. Around 1:20 a.m. Thursday, a Harford County Sheriff's Office deputy on patrol noticed a fire inside the school, located at 100 block of Osborne Parkway in Forest Hill, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. Fire crews from Bel Air and Jarrettsville volunteer fire companies were called scene and quickly containted the blaze to the front area of a portable classroom and an outside heating unit where investigators believe the fire began, the release states. UPDATE (10:17 a.m.)—One woman is dead and three were injured in a Thursday afternoon accident in Forest Hill that involved a trailer carrying two horses. Bradley Garrett Baker, of Fallston, was stopped on Grafton Shop Road preparing to cross MD Route 23, or East-West Highway, in a 1998 Chevy S-10 at around 3:30 p.m., according to Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack. At the same time, a 2000 Peterbuilt oil tanker was heading west on Route 23 while a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban towing a horse trailer was eastbound on the highway, state police said. A late morning car accident in Forest Hill injured multiple people Wednesday, fire officials say. Around 10 a.m. an accident took place on MD Route 24, or Rocks Road, in the area of Newport Drive in Forest Hill, according to a post from Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS spokesman Rich Gardiner to the association's official Facebook page. Forest Hill won the Harford County District Championship for 11- and 12-year-olds last weekend to earn the right to represent the host county in the Cal Ripken World Series later this summer at the Ripken Baseball Youth Complex. The pair will dance in the Alzheimer's Association's Baltimore Memory Ball.
A dynamic local duo has teamed up to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association—one dance step at a time. Renee Wooding, 51, of Timonium and Juan Alzamora, 43, of Forest Hill are honing their moves for the Alzheimer's Association's Memory Ball which will take place April 14. The "Dancing Stars" theme of the ball brings together local celebrities from Baltimore and the surrounding area to raise money for the association. Wooding, former president of the Alzheimer's Association board, decided participating in the event would be a good way to support the association and signed up.
