Bel Air High School Wins MPSSAA Baseball State Title

Bel Air and LaPlata played for the championship Saturday.

The Bel Air Bobcats earned the state title in baseball after a hard fought game Sautrday at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen. The Bobcats defeated the LaPlata Warriors 3-2 to secure the Class 3A Championship, according to The Bellarion. Check out photos from the game and be sure to add your own.

Fallston Wins, Beats Out Patterson Mill For State Lacrosse Title

The Harford County teams faced off in the championship game at UMBC Tuesday.

Fallston High School took home the state title in boys lacrosse Tuesday for the second year in a row. The Cougars defeated the Patterson Mill Huskies, 15-5, to secure the 2013 MPSSAA Class 2A/1A boys championship at UMBC Stadium. Were you able to attend the game at UMBC? CMW Hosts UCBAC Hoops Title Games for Bel Air

The Eagles will square off with Edgewood in a game at C. Milton Wright High School.

The Aberdeen girls basketball team is playing for the conference championship Wednesday.  The Eagles and Edgewood will square off at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the title matchup at C. Milton Wright. Edgewood (16-6 overall) won the Susquehanna Division, going 14-0 in division play. Aberdeen (19-3 overall) was unbeaten in division play, as well, going 12-0 against Chesapeake Division opponents. » See the full UCBAC standings for both boys and girls in the charts with this post. The Eagles are also a top seed in the region playoffs. For more on their postseason schedule, read here. The UCBAC boys title game is also slated for Wednesday at C. Milton Wright. Edgewood (11-1 Chesapeake Division) and Joppatowne meet in a 5 p.m. tip.

UCBAC Standings Heading Into Championships

UCBAC Championships are on the way.

The Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference released updated standings Thursday morning in advance of championship matchups. The Bel Air Bobcats are wrestling champions in the Chesapeake division while Aberdeen Eagles hold the wrestling championship title in the Susquehanna division. In basketball, the Edgewood girls are champions on the Chesapeake side while Aberdeen took home the Susquehanna title. Boys basketball standings underwent a major upset after Aberdeen forfeited all games before Feb. 1 for using an inelligble player, leaving Joppatowne on top. SWIM: CMW Girls, Tech Boys Undefeated In Pool

Five Harford County swimming programs have winning records heading into 2013.

C. Milton Wright is ahead of the pack, but there are plenty of teams paddling through the wake in the Harford County swimming standings. Heading into 2013, the Mustangs are undefeated as a team—led by a 5-0 girls team—while Harford Tech is 4-1 overall—buoyed by a 5-0 boys team. Football: 3 Cecil Teams, Hawks Alive In Playoffs

North Harford was the lone Harford County team to advance to the MPSSAA postseason.

The Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference landed four football teams in the MPSSAA region playoffs, but just one from Harford County. North Harford will be the lone representative from the county, while in Cecil County, UCBAC schools Perryville, Bo Manor and Elkton have advanced to the postseason.  It marks the first time since the UCBAC was created in 2003 that Harford County has just one representative in the football playoffs. C. Milton Wright's Marc Alegi Named Raven's Coach Of Week

The recognition comes with a $2,000 donation to the school’s football program among other prizes.

The C. Milton Wright Mustangs are having a great year in football, and head coach Marc Alegi is getting some major credit this week. Just six games into his first year as head coach, Alegi was named Ravens High School Coach of the Week. The Mustangs toppled the previously undefeated Fallston Cougars Friday in a hard fought game. After falling behind 14-0 in the first half, the team rallied with three touchdown passes from quarterback Omar Walker, stopping the Fallston scoring streak in its tracks, according to a release from the Ravens program. "A lot of times when a team quickly goes up 14-0, the players are shell-shocked," Alegi said in the release. "But our kids responded immediately, saying, 'We’ve got this coach.' The varsity squad was undefeated going into Friday's game.

C. Milton Wright suffered its first varsity football loss of the season Friday against Overlea. The team was undefeated going into Friday night's home game.
