The MPSSAA state swim meet was held in College Park.
The C. Milton Wright girls set three county records and paddled to a second-place finish in the state swim meet Saturday in College Park. C. Milton Wright took second in the MPSSAA girls meet, and fourth in the boys meet, as the top representatives from Harford County. The Mustangs girls topped last year's record in the 200 medley relay, swimming a 1:53.24, besting the 1:54.82 set last year. They won the state title by three seconds. Part of both of those relay teams was Lauren O'Mara, who also broke her own county reacord in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:06.70. C. Milton Wright capped off its regular season title with a win in the championship meet.
After winning the regular season title, the C. Milton Wright swim team took home the county championship Wednesday. The Mustangs won the boys and girls titles at the championship meet—held over two days at Magnolia Middle School. Check out the attached file for all the results. Fallston finished second and Patterson Mill was third. Region meets are Feb. 14-16, and state meets are Feb. 22-23, according to the MPSSAA. The Mustangs won the regular season crown, led by an undefeated girls team.
The C. Milton Wright swim team won the regular season championship in Harford County. The Mustangs girls (15-0) led the way for the team, which also went 15-0. The boys were 14-1. Five Harford County swimming programs have winning records heading into 2013.
C. Milton Wright is ahead of the pack, but there are plenty of teams paddling through the wake in the Harford County swimming standings. Heading into 2013, the Mustangs are undefeated as a team—led by a 5-0 girls team—while Harford Tech is 4-1 overall—buoyed by a 5-0 boys team. C. Milton Wright won the boys meet, girls meet, and the overall county championship.
C. Milton Wright followed up Tuesday's girls county championship with a boys title Thursday, leaving the Mustangs as the undisputed Harford County swim champions. The Mustangs edged Havre de Grace for the boys title after slipping past Patterson Mill in Tuesday's girls championship. The Huskies finished second and the Warriors third in the overall championship. See the attached PDFs for the full boys and girls results. The boys meet was initially scheduled for Wednesday, but Harford County Public Schools canceled all evening activities due to snow. Did you attend the county championships? C. Milton Wright was the best of 10 in the pool Tuesday night.
Winter weather postponed the Harford County boys swim championship scheduled for Wednesday evening, allowing the C. Milton Wright girls to prolong their celebration. The Mustangs won the girls county title Tuesday at Magnolia Middle School, edging Patterson Mill, 397-318. North Harford, Bel Air and Havre de Grace rounded out the top five. For event results, see the PDF document included with this article. The boys meet was scheduled for Wednesday evening at Magnolia Middle School. Harford County Public Schools canceled all evening events due to winter weather. The boys competition has been rescheduled for Thursday evening. Havre de Grace defeated Fallston for the second time this season.
The Warriors swim team has only defeated Fallston twice. Both of those wins have come this season. Havre de Grace swept Fallston and Edgewood Wednesday night, improving to 15-1 overall. In a double meet at Magnolia Middle School, the C. Milton Wright Mustangs and Havre de Grace Warriors came out on top.
The C. Milton Wright Mustangs blew the Aberdeen Eagles out of the water Thursday during the swim meet at Magnolia Middle School. The Havre de Grace Warriors also made top times in their meet against the Joppatowne Mariners and the Patterson Mill Huskies. The Mustangs had best times in almost every event, ending up second only in the girls 200-yard freestyle and the girls 100-yard butterfly. Both Aberdeen top times went to junior Cora Summerfield. While Patterson Mill trailed Havre de Grace, the Huskies came out somewhere in the middle with scores surpassing those of the Joppatowne Mariners. C. Milton Wright defeated both Havre de Grace and Patterson Mill in the pool Friday evening.
The Warriors quest for an undefeated season in the pool came to an end Friday night, when C. Milton Wright swept a dual meet against Havre de Grace and Patterson Mill. The Mustangs upset the Warriors' boys team, which defeated the Huskies boys team. Havre de Grace defeated Patterson Mill overall, but the Mustangs came out on top against both county opponents (see attached PDF file for scores and individual event results).
