Alleged Robber at Shock Trauma Following Chase, Crash

A 26-year-old Bel Air man allegedly dressed in a burqa to disguise himself as a woman and robbed a liquor store on Friday.

Charges are pending against a Bel Air man who police say disguised himself as a woman, allegedly robbed a liquor store on South Fountain Green Road at gunpoint, and crashed his car as he tried to elude officers on Friday. The man, who is being identified only as a 26-year-old from Bel Air, was in stable condition Monday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. A warrant charging the man with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault and theft less than $1,000 has been issued in connection with the liquor store robbery. Traffic charges related to the pursuit and subsequent crash are also expected, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Pedestrian Killed in Joppa Crash Tuesday

A man was hit while walking on Philadelphia Road/MD Route 7.

Philadelphia Road was closed for three hours Tuesday after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed in Joppa, according to Maryland State Police. At 8 p.m. Monday, Jack Franklin Watson, 61, of Dundalk, was walking in the westbound lane of Philadelphia Road east of Route 152 when he was struck by a 1973 Volkswagen Beetle, Maryland State Police said. Paramedics from Joppa-Magnolia Fire Company found Watson unresponsive, and he was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:49 p.m., police said. Philadelphia Road was closed until approximately 11 p.m. as police investigated the crash. According to police, the area was not illuminated by street lights and Watson was wearing dark clothing. Pennsylvania Man Killed in Joppa Crash Friday

Maryland State Police responded to the crash on Pulaski Highway at 1:38 a.m. Friday.

Maryland State Police said that a 31-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed Friday morning on US Route 40 in Joppa. It is the second fatal crash Harford County has seen in two days. At 1:38 a.m. Friday, troopers from the Bel Air Barrack responded to the 600 block of Pulaski Highway for a single-vehicle crash, according to a state police statement. Jason D. Ham, 31, of Delta, PA, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:57 a.m. by Harford County paramedics, police said. According to preliminary investigation, police said that Ham had been driving a 2000 Nissan Frontier eastbound on Route 40/Pulaski Highway when for unknown reasons, he drove off the road, onto the shoulder, into a ditch and became airborne after hitting an embankment. Firefighters Battle Blaze In Joppa Woods

Shore Drive in Joppa was shut down Friday because of the number of emergency vehicles at the scene.

More than two dozen firefighters trudged a mile into Joppa woods last week to combat a fire. The 25 volunteer firefighters had to go off road to access the fire, leaving the large engines and equipment behind. Around 6:18 p.m. Friday, someone called 911 after seeing smoke coming from a wooded area near the 700 block of Shore Drive in the Rumsey Island area of Joppa, according to a release from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. Firefighters from Joppa-Magnolia arrived a short time later, but fire engines were too big to drive off the main road. Crews instead used four wheel drive vehicles to get to the fire, located about a mile into the woods, according to the fire company. About a quarter of an acre of leaves and plants were …

Joppa Crime: Twitter Insults Lead To Fight

From the Harford County Sheriff's Office: __  Joppa Farm Road, 500 block, 8:05 a.m. on Feb. 19. A fight that began on Twitter resulted in assault charges for two Joppatowne High School students. A 16-year-old and 14-year-old were charged with second-degree assault and distrubance of school operations following the fight in a first floor hallway. Police said despite a number of punches thrown, no injuries were reported, and both teenagers were released to their guardians. Police said the altercation was initiated with insults on Twitter beginning on Feb. 15. Fort Hoyle Road, 200 block, 12:32 p.m. on Feb. 15. Joppa Garage Fire Causes $15K Damage

Investigators believe the fire started accidentally.

A fire in a detached garage in Joppa caused about $15,000 in damage Saturday. Shortly before 12:11 p.m. neighbors noticed the fire in the 500 block of Magnolia Road and called 911, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. Twenty-five firefighters from Joppa-Magnolia, Abingdon and Bel Air Volunteer Fire Companies and Aberdeen Proving Ground professional fire department responded to the scene and controlled the blaze within half an hour, the release states. Deputy state fire marshals believe the fire began accidentally inside the 35-foot by 24-foot detached garage when sparks from a propane torch ignited nearby flammable material. Police: Death Of 9-Month-Old Deemed Suspicious

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the infant's death.

Detectives with the Harford County Sheriff's Office are investigating after a 9-month-old went into cardiac arrest and died Tuesday. The death is being called suspicious by police. Around 1:33 p.m. deputies were called to a home in the 900 block of Scannell Court in Joppa to handle a report of a child in cardiac arrest, according to a release from the sheriff's office. When deputies arrived, paramedics with the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company were treating the 9-month-old and the 19-year-old mother, the release states. Both mother and child were taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air for treatment where child was pronounced dead at 2:18 p.m. The mother, whose name has not been released, was listed in critical condition …

Human Remains Found in Joppa

The remains were found in a Joppa dumpster and at the home of the Joppa man who has been missing since Friday.

  Human remains were found in two separate locations in Joppa and there is a possibility they belong to a man who has been missing since Friday, police say. "We have an active, ongoing investigation, which uncovered some evidence that a crime may have occurred in a house located in the 500 block of Terrapin Terrace in Joppa," Monica Worrell, public information officer with the Harford County Sheriff's Office, said Wednesday. “There is a strong suspicion that this is our missing person," Worrell said. Worrell said police executed a search and seizure warrant Wednesday morning at the home and discovered human remains. The address of the warrant matches the home address of Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, 37, who has been missing since Friday. …
