Marketplace on Main runs May through September in Bel Air.
The newest addition to Bel Air's contingent of Farmers Markets launched Wednesday afternoon. The Wednesday market, which has been dubbed "Marketplace on Main," will run from 3-7 p.m. in the Main Street Parking Lot at 33-37 S. A new market is opening Wednesday in Bel Air in the new Main Street parking lot across from the Harford County Courthouse.
Wednesday marks the launch of the newest addition to the farmers market lineup in Bel Air. The Wednesday market, which has been dubbed "Marketplace on Main," will run from 3-7 p.m. in the Main Street Parking Lot at 33-37 S. Main Street between the Main Street Tower Restaurant and Harford County Sheriff's Office Headquarters. The market will run from May 8 through Sept. 25. Market attendees will find products from local growers and producers, artists from the Harford County Artists Gallery, food from Main Street Tower Restaurant and entertainment, according to a release from the Bel Air Downtown Alliance. Friday marked the start of First Friday events for the 2013 season.
First Fridays returned this week with beer, wine, snacks, music and fun for a wide range of ages. The event featured food from Main Street Tower and Lounge, beer and wine and live music from Tainted Souls. First Fridays, presented by Bel Air Downtown Alliance, take place from 5 until 8 p.m. at the interseciton of Office and Main streets on the first Friday of May through October. The countdown to First Fridays in Bel Air is nearing the single digits.
Bel Air is preparing to celebrate warmer weather and community camraderie with the return of First Fridays next week. May 3 marks the return of First Fridays in Bel Air for the 2013 season. The May event will feature face painting, food from Main Street Tower and Lounge, beer and wine at $4 a ticket and live music from Tainted Souls. First Fridays, presented by Bel Air Downtown Alliance, take place from 5 until 8 p.m. at the interseciton of Office and Main streets on the first Friday of May through October. The event is designed to engage men and boys in the fight to end sexual violence against women, according to the event posting on Patch.
The Harford County community will stand together in the face of sexual violence against women Saturday during an event that puts men in women's shoes—literally. SARC, a non-profit agency located in Harford County working to end domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and stalking, will hold its 5th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday in Bel Air. Participants in the event have raised money leading up to Saturday's walk, when women and men alike will don high heels as a sign of solidarity and march through downtown Bel Air. The Bel Air Farmers Market opened April 13 for the 38th season.
Saturday marked the first Bel Air Farmers Market of 2013. The market, now in its 38th season, takes place 7-11 a.m. every Saturday from April through November in the parking lot of the Mary-Risteau state office building located at 2 S. The weather cooperated for this weekend's Kite Festival in Bel Air.
Mild temperatures, sunshine and crisp breezes greeted kite enthusiasts in Bel Air Saturday. The town's eighth annual kite festival was a hit thanks in part to the weather and event organizers. Dozens of kites dotted the sky over Rockfield Park recreational fields between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. with young children to adults trying their hands at kite flying. Have your own photos from the event? If you're looking for something to do this weekend look no further than Harford County. There's a high school drama performance and kite festival in the hopper this weekend, but that's not all that is taking place in and around town.
