Harford Woman Wins $2M Powerball Prize
Almerta Williams purchased her life-changing ticket in Edgewood.
Almerta Williams couldn't sleep Wednesday night. Who would blame her? The Harford County resident won $2 million, matching five numbers in the Powerball drawing that made national headlines. “I had trouble sleeping because I kept thinking I didn’t want to lose the ticket,” Williams told the Maryland Lottery. “I slept with my purse." The Maryland Lottery said Williams purchased the winning ticket at Herb’s Deli and Spirits in Edgewood. She already has plans for the winnings, including a new house and an 80-inch television to put inside, the Maryland Lottery said. Williams was one of 60 Powerball participants to match five numbers, according to CBS News. It was her Power Play opt-in that doubled the prize from $1 million to $2 million. As of…
