Harford County Anticipating Heavy, Wet Snow

Harford County Emergency Operations Center will activate at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Harford County will partially activate its emergency operations center at 8 a.m. Wednesday to prepare for a winter storm. Harford County Emergency Manager Rick Ayers, in an automated phone message to county residents around 6 p.m. Tuesday, said the county is anticipating the heaviest snow during the day Wednesday, with up to six inches of snow possible. Wind gusts up to 40 mph are also possible, Ayers said. Earlier Tuesday, the National Weather Service was projecting up to 10 inches of snow for parts of Harford County. Harford, Baltimore May See Snow Wednesday

The State Highway Administration warns travelers to plan for a long afternoon commute.

Although it's only early November, locals may soon feel the first bite of winter. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory predicting one to two inches of snow across most of the Baltimore metro region, although northern Baltimore and Harford counties may see two to four inches. The advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday. The steadiest precipitation—snow mixed with rain at times—is expected to occur through the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures will be in the lower to mid 30s, according to the National Weather Service. Snow Storm Mostly Spares Baltimore, Harford Counties

Expect mostly sunny yet cold weather Sunday and Halloween Monday.

Baltimore and Harford counties were mostly spared from the rare October snow that blanketed much of Western Maryland, Pennsylvania and the Northeast, according to Accuweather.com. About 2.3 million homes between Maryland and Maine lost electrical power, according to the Associated Press. Areas near the Maryland-Pennsylvania border saw as much as 10 inches of snow, according to Newsday. Heavy, wet snow continues to pummel the Northeast today, as many states in the New England area declared a state of emergency. Baltimore and Harford county residents meanwhile should expect clear skies and colder temperatures in the days ahead.
