The crash near Aberdeen occurred at 12:40 p.m., Maryland State Police said.
Maryland State Police said that a man died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 40 near Aberdeen Saturday afternoon. Joseph Rohrbaugh, 25, of Baltimore, was driving the 1992 black Acura Integra involved in the fatal crash, according to police. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack responded to a collision reported on Pulaski Highway at Mitchell Lane at 12:40 p.m. Saturday. Police said that preliminary investigation indicates Rohrbaugh was driving westbound on Pulaski Highway approaching Mitchell Lane when he lost control of the vehicle, which slid sideways and hit a guardrail abutment. Crashes snarled traffic along I-95, MD Route 22 and US Route 40 between Aberdeen and Havre de Grace.
Three incidents around the Interstate 95 corridor between Aberdeen and Havre de Grace led to delays on the roads Friday morning. In addition to a vehicle fire near Havre de Grace on I-95, there were two tractor-trailer rollovers in the Aberdeen area, resulting in the closure of the ramp from eastbound MD Route 22 to eastbound US Route 40 for approximately one hour. The Aberdeen Police Department reported the ramp from Route 22 to Route 40 was reopened at 10:37 a.m. As the incidents happened, Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association spokesman Rich Gardiner was tweeting out the details. Water main work restricted access to the bridge Friday morning.
The Hatem Bridge has reopened at westbound Route 40 as of 3:30 p.m., according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. Westbound 40 was closed at the bridge Friday morning so that repairs could be made to a broken water main. The Hatem and Tydings bridges are slated to close due to high winds.
UPDATE: As of 2:45 p.m., the Hatem and Bay Bridges were closed. The Tydings Bridge is expected to close soon, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. The Hatem and Tydings bridges over the Susquehanna River in Maryland are expected to close at 2 p.m. Monday. High winds caused travel restrictions on the bridge, but traffic is to be shut down after gusts exceeded 55 miles per hour.
