A Bel Air woman was sentenced to the maximum jail time of 10 years after pleading guilty Monday to one count of vehicular manslaughter. Based on the plea agreement, Ashley Nicole Albers will only serve five of those years in jail, with the remaining five suspended. Albers, 28, with addresses in the 700 block of Farnham Place in Bel Air and the 1700 block of Fountain Rock Way in Edgewood, was indicted in May on charges of vehicular manslaughter and eight related counts. A late morning accident damaged several utility poles and closed a portion of MD Route 543 to traffic for several hours.
A late morning accident on the outskirts of Bel Air in Creswell was impacting traffic into rush hour Monday, with MD Route 543 expected to remain closed well into the evening, authorities said. Around 11 a.m., a tractor trailer was involved in an accident along MD Route 543, or Creswell Road, in the area of MD Route 136, or Calvary Road, according to Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack. While no one was injured in the crash, the tractor trailer took down about half a dozen utility poles in the area, state police said. MD Route 543 was closed between MD Route 136 and Goat Hill Road at 3:30 p.m. and was expected to remain closed to traffic for six additional hours while pole issues are being addressed, state police said. Thomas John Higgins, 52, of Guy Way in Dundalk, was driving a 2005 Ford van northbound on Creswell Road, or Maryland Route 543, when the van crossed the center line and swiped a Chevrolet Malibu heading southbound, according to state police. Two people sustained minor injuries after an accident on Route 543 Tuesday night.
An accident on Route 543 Tuesday night sent two people to a local hospital with minor injuries. Around 8:44 p.m. an accident took place on Route 543 in the area of Leeswood Route near C. Milton Wright High School, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. Two patients were taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries, Gardiner said. No helicopter was called to the scene, according to Gardiner.

UPDATE (7:41 a.m. Tuesday)—A serious accident in the area of Wheel Road and Route 543 claimed the lives of three siblings Monday night. David S. Bauguess, 29, Ashley M. Bauguess, 24, and Joseph M. Bauguess, 17, siblings who lived in the 1300 block of Marquis Court in Fallston, died in the crash while two other people were taken to a Baltimore hospital, according to Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack. Two Bel Air women involved in the July 21 fatal accident on Maryland Route 543 have been charged with theft, according to court documents. Nicole Ashley Albers, 27, of the 700 block of Farnham Place, has been charged with one count each of theft less than $100 and theft less than $1,000, court records show. Alycia Marie Hoffman, 23, of the 800 block of Albion Place, has been charged with two counts of theft less than $100. Albers was the driver and Hoffman her lone passenger in the July accident that killed Carolyn Dicocco, 64, of Bel Air, according to Maryland State Police. Police have identified the motorcycle rider who died after Saturday night's two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Maryland Route 543 and Maryland Route 7 in Belcamp. Louis Goodman, 47, of Abingdon, died after his 2007 Harley Davidson was in a collision with a 2008 Chrysler Sebring driven by Angela Gonzalez, 29, of Millers, at about 8:30 p.m. According to a release from Maryland State Police, Gonzalez was driving south on Route 543 toward Route 7 and Gonzalez was making a left turn onto Route 7 from Route 543.
