The final votes were tallied this morning in Bel Air Town Hall, but the outcome remains the same with Edward Hopkins, Robert Reier and Susan Burdette to serve on the Bel Air Board of Commissioners.
Election judges gathered in Bel Air Town Hall once again Thursday morning, this time to count provisional and absentee ballots. All eight abstentee ballots were approved while all five provisional ballots were rejected. The provisional ballots were rejected based on residency and voter registration issues. Four absentee votes went to Greg Adolph, one to Susan Burdette, one to Terence Hanley, six to Edward Hopkins and five to Robert Reier. One vote was for a write-in candidate. The numbers did not change the election results. Hopkins and Reier will serve another term on the board and Burdette will replace Hanley. The final count is as follows:

While the unofficial results from the Bel Air election were announced Tuesday night, the official results will come today.
With just five absentee and eight provisional ballots left to be counted, the final vote tally for town Board of Commissioners will not stray far from Tuesday's unofficial results. The remaining votes will be counted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bel Air Town Hall. The unofficial results were read aloud to a room filled with candidates and their supporters Tuesday night. Unofficially, Robert Reier received 463 votes followed by Edward Hopkins (422), Susan Burdette (368), Greg Adolph (312) and Terence Hanley (206). Three seats were up for grabs on the five-seat board in the non-partisan election. Stick with Patch for final vote counts and election wrap-up.

Bel Air Town Hall was the scene of a mix of reactions Tuesday night following the announcement of the unofficial results in the Bel Air Town Commissioners' election. Edward Hopkins and Robert Reier will return to the board of commissioners while newcomer Susan Burdette will replace Terence Hanley. Hanley received the least votes Tuesday; Reier received the most. "I'm very humbled, very honored," Reier said following the announcement. Reier said he appreciated the trust and confidence the voters indicated they have in him and promised to do his best to live up to that. Several Bel Air residents weighed in Tuesday on major issues that drove their votes.
While one Bel Air resident gave her thoughts on camera, several others told Patch what this Bel Air municipal election is about for them. Edwin Weaver, a 60-year resident of Bel Air, thinks the major issue of this election is the purchase of the old BB&T Bank building on Main Street. He said the purchase was one he is "OK" with. For Angelo Monico, the candidates' perspective on property taxes was the issue driving his vote. Monico, who has lived in town for two decades, said Terence Hanley and Greg Adolph addressed those issues to his satisfaction.
