The Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference released final standings on Tuesday.
The C. Milton Wright softball team and Bel Air baseball team won their respective sports' Chesapeake Division regular season titles, earning both a spot in Wednesday's conference championships. C. Milton Wright and Havre de Grace will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Harford Tech, while Bel Air and Bo Manor will square off in a baseball game at 6:30 p.m. at Harford Community College. The MPSSAA is releasing brackets for region tournaments this week. Boys and girls lacrosse brackets came out Monday. Softball will be posted Tuesday, and baseball on Wednesday. C. Milton Wright won the state championship in 2010.
One year after coaching C. Milton Wright High School’s baseball team to a historic season, head coach Anthony Blackburn is stepping down. The English teacher said he is transferring to Bel Air High School, where he will not pursue a coaching position. “They’ve got a [varsity] coach in place right there, they’ve got a good JV coach,” Blackburn said. “I thought it would be a good switch for me to have. It’s a time in my life where I can go ahead and do that.” The 42-year-old Havre de Grace resident has 3-year-old twins with his wife, Kelly, who also teaches at C. Milton Wright. Blackburn said his family played a role in the decision, but it is not the primary reason. “My wife has always been very supportive of me coaching,” he said. A year …

Bobby Ruse struck out 12 batters for C. Milton Wright in a complete game, 7–0 home win against Bel Air on Saturday. Ruse allowed just two hits and walked one batter. Justin Martin was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI while Nick Stallings was 2-for-3, also with a double and a pair of RBI for the Mustangs. Senior catcher Andrew Clow threw one of two baserunners out on attempted steals and was 2-for-4 and drove in two runs at the plate. Colt Hancock added a triple and a run for the home team. C. Milton Wright is scheduled to travel to Fallston for a 3:30 p.m. game Monday while Bel Air is set to play at North East at the same time.
