Harford County's tourism manager Wini Roche checked out the storied Bel Air home.
Wini Roche, tourism manager for Harford County, visited Tudor Hall in Bel Air for this month's installment of her video series, "Where's Wini?" Prefacing her visit, Roche said that Tudor Hall is "the most well-known Civil War-era landmark in Harford County." John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln in 1865, grew up in the Bel Air home. Roche said her spring videos will showcase sites with wartime ties in Harford County. Next month, she will be in Havre de Grace to see sites from the War of 1812, before the city's bicentennial commemoration taking place May 3 to 5. Tudor Hall is located at 17 Tudor Lane in Bel Air. Harford County's tourism manager highlighted a family destination in her blog.
Wini Roche, Harford County tourism manager, recently visited Shaw Orchards, on the Mason-Dixon line. Located just north of Maryland in Stewartstown, PA, the orchard often plays host to Harford County families. Harford's Winifred "Wini" Roche will serve on the Maryland Tourism Development Board.
Harford County Tourism Manager Wini Roche has been appointed to the Maryland Tourism Development Board. According to a statement from Harford County Government, Roche was one of four appointments by Gov. Martin O'Malley Monday. "I’m honored to serve and promote our great state on the Maryland Tourism Development Board," Roche said in a statement. "With so many wonderful experiences to offer, tourism is truly a bright spot in Maryland’s economy." Roche has 18 years of experience in local tourism, according to the statement. She will serve a three-year term, representing the Maryland Destination Marketing Organizations. A destination market study outlines four major points for improvement and strategy in the Harford County Tourism industry.
Harford County would benefit from a convention center and a hotel tax, among other items, according to a marketing study released Tuesday. With the goal of making Harford County a tourist desitination, the study recommends emphasizing youth sports, creating a destination marketing organization, implementing a hotel tax and building a mid-sized convention center. Harford County's tourism website featured the county's two cupcake shops.
Cupcake wars? The real winner is Harford County—which has two cupcake shops. Sweet Devotion in Havre de Grace and Flavor Cupcakery in Bel Air bring residents of Harford County two options for sweet treats. Haford County tourism manager Wini Roche recently visited both shops and featured each—with their respective salted caramel treats—in her monthly blog. Roche held her own "cupcake war," playing off Flavor Cupcakery's win on the television show in 2011, and deemed herself the winner.
