The Spa on the Boulevard is the latest business to sign on for what is shaping up to becoming Harford County’s most popular shopping center: the Boulevard at Box Hill. Abingdon resident Amanda Nazelrod, who serves as the general manager at the Spa in the (Hunt) Valley sister location, will take the same position at the new business. It is already under construction and set to open next to Wegmans on the east end of the plaza in the spring of 2012. “The main focus for Box Hill will be on couples and detoxification,” Nazelrod told Patch. “So …

The Maryland Route 24 overpass opening has been delayed for a third time, according to a release from the Maryland Department of Transportation: From MdTA spokeswoman Teri Moss: Due to inclement weather predicted for Monday, the new MD 24 bridge over MD 924 (Emmorton Road) and Tollgate Road is currently scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Wednesday. This includes new traffic patterns on the ramps from both directions of Interstate 95 to MD 24 and MD 924 (Exits 77A and 77B). To prepare for the opening, lane closures and traffic drags are scheduled to take place on MD 24, MD 924 and I-95 from approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday. During the traffic drags, police will bring vehicles to a reduced pace prior to the work zone. In the event…
The discount superstore's officials have yet to submit a traffic study, according to a county official.
Prices may not be the only thing Walmart is rolling back in Harford County. The discount superstore has yet to take the next step to potentially move its Abingdon store to the Maryland Route 924 and Plumtree Road intersection. Harford County Director of Planning and Zoning Pete Gutwald told Patch that Walmart officials have not submitted a traffic study and have not scheduled a public hearing. The latter step would be required to “allow the community to hear what it is they’re doing, what their game plan is,” Gutwald told Patch on Friday. For instant updates, follow Bel Air Patch on Facebook and Twitter. Residents along the Route 924 corridor have held their own community meetings and have expressed opposition to the County Council. …

The project's completion is expected to relieve traffic congestion near the Interstate 95 exit.
Not that you mind waiting 10 minutes to drive about a mile from Singer Road to Tollgate Road in rush hour, but the Maryland Route 24 overpass designed to improve Abingdon traffic is almost complete. UPDATE: The opening date has been delayed. See attached document for full plan. A Maryland Transportation Authority spokeswoman said the overpass, which is just north of Exit 77 on Interstate 95, will open at 5 a.m. Friday. "The new bridge will help improve traffic flow along MD 24 and at the 24/924 intersection because traffic destined for Bel Air will be able to use the bridge to bypass the local intersection and signal," Kelly Melhem wrote in an email. CORRECTION: The overpass opens Friday, not Saturday, as previously reported. Patch regrets…

The site's manager said the Harford County location will be the first to feature a new interior and exterior company design.
Bel Air’s Sonic Drive-In is one signature from being approved for groundbreaking, according to its owner. “We are hopefully going to have the permit to build [Friday]. That’s if everything goes as planned,” Rick Joshi told Patch by telephone Thursday. “There’s something with the storm water deal, so we just need a signature on that and we’re good. … At the latest it will be a couple weeks.” That would put the grand opening date between mid-November and early December. “It’s going to happen this year—guaranteed. We just don’t have the exact date,” Joshi said. Once the approval goes through, the eight-week construction process will begin, the owner said. He added that the Bel Air location will be the first to feature a new interior and …

I completely agree with you. The comment made by the small salon owner, who is very much entitled to their opinion, was clearly stated out of fear and envy. I am in the industry and I do not understand why salon owners in the industry cannot support one another and share ideas on how to service the community as a whole. Although I am aware of the competition from the business perspective, I feel …   more ›
