Bio

I lived in Harford County for 17 years before leaving to attend Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, MD. I majored in communications, with a concentration in journalism, and minored in English. I completed my undergraduate work in the fall of 2008 and earned my MBA in May 2011.

My hometown is Pylesville, where I graduated from North Harford High School in 2005, but moved to downtown Bel Air in July 2010 to launch Bel Air Patch. While a senior at NHHS, I served as the sports columnist for the Cry of the Hawk student newspaper, which inspired me to study journalism in college. At MSM's student newspaper, The Mountain Echo, I was the sports editor all four of my undergraduate years and became managing editor in the final two. During that time I completed internships at the Frederick News-Post and SportsNetwork.com while freelancing for other media outlets, including ESPNRISE.com.

In my free time I enjoy reading, writing and watching sports. I was a scholarship player on the Mount's men's golf team and earned team MVP honors in my final two seasons as well as All-Northeast conference tournament honors in my senior year. Before playing at the Mount I was a three-time first-team All-Harford County and two-time first-team All-Maryland 1A2A selection. I also worked as the manager of the men's basketball team at Mount St. Mary's and traveled to the NCAA tournament in 2008.

Your Beliefs

At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. But we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for them to inject their beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that their beliefs are on the record will cause them to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.

Politics

I am a registered Republican, though that was so I would have a meaningful primary vote in conservative Frederick County while in college. I think of myself as more of an independent. My beliefs vary across the political spectrum and often depend on particular situations as opposed to a preconceived set of beliefs.

Religion

I was raised Roman Catholic and embrace the inclusion of all beliefs.

Any chance you will get rid of those annoying little "side bar" pop ups? I find them very intrusive.

Hi Brad,
Thanks for the article on my sign guy! I just opened Goldfather Bel Air a few weeks ago and appreciate all the publicity I can get.
