UPDATE: 2 Bel Air Townhomes Seriously Damaged in Early Morning Fire; Firefighters Injured

The cause of the fire was unknown as of 4 a.m. Wednesday.

UPDATE: (4:21 a.m.)—A fire on Pentwood Court in Bel Air went to a second alarm Wednesday morning and severely damaged two townhomes.

One firefighter was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening after falling from the second floor of the home to the first, Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Fire and EMS Association said at the scene.

A second firefighter was treated at the scene for heat-related issues, Gardiner said.

Firefighters were dispatched about 2 a.m. to the 900 block of Pentwood Court, Gardiner said. First-arriving fire personnel noticed heavy fire coming from two townhomes in the middle of a group in the 900 block, Gardiner wrote in a post to the association's official media Facebook page.

The fire was controlled by 2:30 a.m. and no further injuries were reported.

Two of the homes were seriously damaged while a third sustained lesser damage.

Investigators with the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office were on scene investigating at 4 a.m.

Members of the American Red Cross were also on scene assisting those displaced by the fire. It was unclear early Wednesday if all the impacted homes were occupied at the time of the fire, Gardiner said.
