Flavor Cupcakery Honors Customer with Special Treat

Flavor Cupcakery in Bel Air created a special cupcake to honor the granddaughter of one of its customers.

Owner Shelly Stannard said Madison Summer Lynn of Bel Air passed within three days of being diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia. She was just 3-and-a-half years old.

Madison’s grandparents have been asking local businesses to participate in a fundraiser for Madison’s Miracle Mission, which benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In an effort to help with the endeavor, Stannard said 10 percent of all proceeds at Flavor Cupcakery on Wednesday and Thursday would be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society—when customers mention Madison’s Miracle Mission.

To further help the cause, Flavor Cupcakery also created a special treat just for Madison.

“We wanted to make a special cupcake because it’s always nice when you do a fundraiser to honor the cause or the individual,” Stannard said. 

Flavor Cupcakery created Madie’s Cherry Blossom Cupcake, which is a chocolate cake with an almond/cherry buttercream, topped with a cherry blossom flower. Stannard said the idea for the creation came after speaking with the family.

“I asked what was special to Madie and they told me how she loved cherry blossom trees, and that yogurt was one of her favorite foods,” Stannard said. “So we decided on the cherry blossom favor, and the flowers added a special touch.”
