Christmas Cantata: An Appalachian Winter

MANDOLINS, CHOIR BRING 19th

CENTURY FOLK CHRISTMAS
TO BEL AIR

Mandolins
and the Chancel Choir will help ring in Christmas in Bel Air, with two

performances of “An Appalachian Christmas,” Sunday, December 8th at

9:20 and 11:00 AM at Bel Air United Methodist Church.

“With roots extending to 19th-century American folk melodies, ‘An Appalachian Christmas’ is a new and different approach to the music of the season,” said David Tramontana, director of the chancel choir. “You may hear some familiar lyrics, but not in their traditional settings.”

“There is a beautiful simplicity to the
words and music that evokes the true spirit of Christmas,” said Rev. Barry
Hidey, lead pastor. “This cantata will transport listeners back to the time of
our ancestors, and help set the tone for a beautiful Christmas season.”

There is no admission charge for the performances, which will take place during the 9:20 and 11:00 AM services on Sunday, December 8th.
