Full Schedule for Fourth of July in Bel Air

From watermelon eating to fireworks and a parade in between, see the 2014 lineup.

This year's July 4 holiday takes place on a Friday, and the town of Bel Air offers 14 ways to celebrate in town.

Here's the lineup:

  • 6:45 a.m. Flag-raising ceremony with American Legion Post #39 and Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 30, at Bel Air High School
  • 8:15 a.m. Flag-raising ceremony at Rockfield Park
  • 9 a.m. Flag-raising ceremony at Shamrock Park
  • 11 a.m. Flag-raising ceremony at Bel Air Elementary School
  • 7–11 a.m. Blueberry pancake and sausage breakfast at Bel Air High; $7 for adults, $4 for children under 10
  • 8:30 a.m. Horseshoe pitching at Rockfield Park; registration at 8 a.m.
  • 9 a.m. Guided tours and live music at Hays House
  • 9 a.m. Turtle Derby at Shamrock Park; registration at 8:45 a.m.
  • 10 a.m. The Great Bel Air Frog Jumping Contest at Shamrock Park; registration at 9:30 a.m.
  • 11 a.m. Bicycle Rodeo at Bel Air Elementary School
  • 11 a.m. Uncle Sam Says competition at Shamrock Park
  • 11:30 a.m. Watermelon eating contest at Shamrock Park
  • 6 p.m. Bel Air July 4 Parade; starts at East Gordon and North Main streets, continues down Main Street to Idlewild Street
  • 9:30 p.m. Fireworks, launched from Rockfield Park
