Harford Hazmat Team Responds to I-95 Fuel Spill at Riverside

The fuel spill occurred on Interstate 95 near MD Route 543.

Traffic was moving "slowly" on southbound lanes of Interstate 95 south of the Riverside Parkway interchange (MD Route 543) after a crash involving a tractor trailer, according to Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS spokeswoman Jennifer Chenworth Price.

There were no injuries in the crash, according to Price, who said fire and police crews were on the scene and the hazardous materials team was called to handle a fuel leak from the tractor trailer.

The crash was reported just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team. As of 6:15 p.m., it showed that all lanes on I-95 near exit 80 had reopened.

That said, Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company—which was reportedly at the scene with hazardous materials crews around 6 p.m.—advised drivers to "expect traffic both ways."
