Bel Air Bypass Divider To Be Completed Mid-Fall
The project costs about $1.6 million and will stretch about 3 1/2 miles.
The Bel Air Bypass divider construction project is expected to be complete by mid-fall, according to a State Highway Administration official.

“The safety enhancement project includes: Pavement repairs and overlay (currently underway); installation of new traffic barrier in the center of the bypass; upgrading the existing barrier on the sides of the bypass where necessary; installation of new pavement markings where needed,” SHA community liaison Fran Ward, wrote in an email.

The road will be widened and reinforced after Gray & Son, Inc. of Timonium completes the resurfacing project.

Lane closures and/or lane shifts may be in effect daily Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight Sunday to Thursday 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., The work to install the barrier will be done at night beginning later this month, weather permitting. Sunday to Thursday, 7 p.m. until 5 a.m., the next morning. Crews will also replace or add traffic barriers alongside sections of the bypass where needed. That work will be done during daytime hours, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with single lane closures wherever the bypass is two lanes, and lane shifts where there is a single lane.
