IHOP to Replace Marlin & Ray's in Bel Air Plaza

The restaurant formerly known as Ruby Tuesday and Marlin and Ray's is under renovation.

Work is underway at the former Marlin & Ray's seafood restaurant, where a new franchise will reportedly set up shop in 2014.

IHOP is expected to open in Bel Air Plaza in May, according to The Aegis.

The freestanding restaurant space at 593 Baltimore Pike has had two occupants in the last two years.

Seafood restaurant Marlin & Ray's opened in October 2012, then closed abruptly in January as parent company Ruby Tuesday let go of its interests outside of the flagship restaurants.

Until July 2012, the space had been a Ruby Tuesday restaurant. The company decided to convert it into Marlin & Ray's in an attempt to diversify.

In line with the past two businesses that have operated there, the next one will be a franchise; the IHOP in Bel Air will join more than 1,500 IHOP restaurants worldwide. Parent company DineEquity also owns Applebee's.

IHOP stands for "International House of Pancakes," but the menu also includes omelets, waffles, crepes, burgers, appetizers, salads, homestyle dinners and other items. Many IHOP locations are open 24 hours.
