Local Brewery, DuClaw, Releases Popular Beer

Colossus is 21 percent alcohol by volume.

Hundreds of customers rushed Bel Air's on Wednesday and Thursday for the secret release of its rarest beer—Colossus.

With six-ounce pours selling for $5.99, the local restaurant does not expect limited supplies of the sweet but potent beverage to last much longer than the weekend.

There were also special release events at Arundel Mills and in Bowie this week. The beer will go on tour through Maryland later this summer.

Owner Dave Benfield was on hand for the much-anticipated release, last done in 2006. See video for an interview with Benfield and a couple patrons at Wednesday's release.

WOW. What a beer, unlike any beer I've tasted. Light beer drinkers need not apply. First time at Duclaw in years. Great atmosphere, great time.

With so much Alcohol it drinks more like a dessert wine or a brandy. Its a great after dinner beer. Good luck downing more than one.
