Town of Bel Air Budget to Be Unveiled Monday

The anticipated loss of property tax revenue is expected force cuts to the budget.

Bel Air Town Administrator Chris Schlehr is expected to unveil his proposed budget for fiscal year 2012 to the Board of Commissioners at Monday's town meeting.

The anticipated loss of property tax revenue——may force some spending cuts.

Schlehr said the commissioners did not receive an advance copy of the budget, nor would he make one available to Patch. Live coverage will be provided here from Monday's town meeting.

The fiscal year 2010 budget totaled approximately $14.6 million while the fiscal year 2011 budget is about $14.4 million.

The other two items on the agenda are a Kite Day proclamation and a discussion on the Bulk Sewer Rate.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in town hall. General public comments are accepted near the end of the meeting.
